The city was amazing 5 mins from our apartment. Auschwitz was reason the reason for the visit as you can imagine its a very emotional place. Salt mines were amazing as well. Very easy to get around by foot, train & taxi. Plenty of places to eat in the main square. Make the effect to go to the Jewish quarter, food was fantastic, little markets & plenty of music. An old town surrounded by the modern city. Krakow is very green (important in the summer, you can always find some shade on your walk) and welcoming. People are friendly and willing to help. The city has a lot of space, there're many things to do and where to go with kids. Bicyclists would love it, there seems a bit too much space for bicycles than even for pedestrians))) Still, it's quite comfortable for walks as well. The Old town is impressive with it's architecture and atmosphere. The food is very tasty, and it is a good value for a relatively low price. Traffic may become a problem if you're traveling by car, so spare yourself some time when planning your route. Local market in Old town is nice if you want some fresh fruits or souvenirs. It's also a jack-of-all-trades, you can find there, for example, the specific batteries for your car key. There, cash is the means of payment, but in majority of other places, credit cards are good to go. Interesting and cultural. Lots of stag and hen parties but seemed generally well-behaved! Plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from although booking recommended in some places. Can eat quite late in Polish style pubs and bars or have takeout. Pizzerias also popular. General atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. Felt safe to walk around. Beautiful historical city with lots to see and many good restaurants, leaving us more than enough to go back for. Recommend doing your research and ticket booking in advance , especially for the Wawel Hill / Castle area, because there are some bizarre ticketing timings & arrangements. Czartoryski Museum was an unexpected treat. Similarly the Salt mines exceeded expectations. In contrast Auschwitz - Birkenau were a disappointment, because they have become a factory to process tourists through, as if on a conveyer belt, with no time to pause and reflect. As a result we have been more affected by previously seen documentaries on the subject.

The buildings especially in the old town square were beautiful, if you're going to come to Kraków I'd spend lots of time there. We had a horse and carriage ride around the old town square and Jewish quarters, staff were lovely and was a great experience to also see the city. We mostly ate within the old town square, it has some lovely restaurants with a stunning view of the square. I couldn't recommend enough the Buffalo restaurant, if you visit the old town square I'd definitely eat there.

We couldnt have picked a better hotel to stay in & will definately recommend it for a wonderful stay in Krakow.

Great location - right next to the shopping centre, train station, coach station and old town is 5 mins walk away. Rooms are very nice and clean. Large bathroom with both a shower and a bath. Really nice restaurant on the ground floor. The reception staff are very welcoming and helpful. I loved my stays here and I will definitely be back.

Very modern, free hot drinks in reception is a great gesture. We booked the suite and it was incredible. Floor to ceiling windows in both rooms and an amazing bath tub. It’s a short tram from the centre or an even quicker Uber, so staying a little further from the old town makes no difference. Would highly recommend and will be back when visiting Krakow again.

All employees treated me like an old friend. The breakfast was better than ever. Again the waitresses and waiters were old friends. My room was wonderful and super clean. The pool is one of my favorite places in the hotel. Hotel Stary is a safe haven in the very center of Old Town Krakow.
