The the gym and leisure centre was excellent. Problem for me was it cost 20 euro each time to use which put 120 euro extra on the cost of my room . Which was not cheap in first place. It was the same price as hotel in the centre of city. The hotel was not wort the price.

Bilbao is an exceptional city. It is friendly and maintained in very good condition. There are teams regularly cleaning streets, the river and the open spaces. Transport is excellent. Trams and the metro are frequent and cheap. There is a lot to do from walking around the old town or along the river to visiting the Guggenheim. We also visited the Botanical gardens, went up the Funicular de Artxanda. We also had a Pintxos tour and not only enjoyed good food and wine but learnt a lot about Basque history and culture.

We did enjoy Bilboa.
We did enjoy Bilboa. It was a very convenient city to arrive in and depart from. We enjoyed the Guggenheim Museum, the funicular, walking the canal, and the Ribiera Market. It a fun city to walk, as there are old churches and other old buildings throughout the city and charming narrow walking only streets. The mountains up beyond Bilboa give it a nice back drop, and good kicking off place to explore the cave paintings and mountain from. We eat a vegan, whole food diet and were able to find lots of fruits and vegetables in the local markets, and found Naked and Sated which we very much enjoyed.

A very interesting old town.
A very interesting old town. Camino de Santiago markers can be spotted on some paving slabs between churches. River trip is worth while and the architecture of the Guggenheim is stunning. The park near the Fine Arts Museum is very relaxing.
Try Pintxos for lunch and try the salted cod if you dare!

Bilbao is a small city so 3/4 days is plenty to see all the main attractions. There is a great range of restaurants to choose from, many do not serve food until after 7.30pm and many close during the afternoon. The Guggenheim and Fine Art Gallery are worth a visit, also take the Funacular to get a great view of the city, this is just beside the Old Town. We took a trip by metro out to Getxo for a day by the sea and this was well worth the trip.

This is an add on to my original review and I hope that it gives travellers to Bilbao a better idea of what to budget for and prices.
San Mames Museum and Stadium tour 15 Euros per person and well worth it. Remember to have a drink and some Pintos in the bar.
Guggenheim Museum 18 Euros per person. If you are into modern art this is for you.
NAP Bilbao pizza restaurant 2 drinks + 1 starter + 2pizzas = 33.60 Euros.
Koffijazzona just outside of the Guggenheim 2 pints of Estrella 9 Euros.
Baskian brewery & restaurant Burgers 14 Euros, Cana radler larger drinks 3 Euros. 34 Euros for two persons.
Baskian brewery & restaurant: Nine chicken wings starter = 8.75 Euros,
Eleven green peppers starter = 8.00 Euros, 500grms Pork Ribs = 15.75 Euros, 500grms Beef skirt strips = 16.50 Euros, Water 0.50L = 2.20 Euros, Cola Zero = 3.00 Euros.
Caffeteria H2o; Pinchos x 2 + coffee = 5.00 Euros.
AsuaBerri bakery; coffee + 2 cakes = 5.85 Euros.
I hope that this will be of use to travellers to Bilbao.

Excellent place for a long weekend visit.
Excellent place for a long weekend visit. The city has been given a good upgrade on public areas and there are very nice walks and spaces to chill along the Nervion river, the old part of the town or the new city.
Good transport system and good connection to the airport and train station.
Great place for pintxos and chiquiteo (tapas and bar hoping) as well as modern art (guggenheim museum really stands out), or just simply chill in a nice urban setting. Plenty of shopping spots too.
Breakfast was excellent, the quality of the goods offered was excellent. I wanted gluten free items and they were plentiful and not confined to the usual couple of slices. They had a variety of items to choose from. The location is superb, although seemingly far removed from the center of Bilbao the funicular that runs from the hotel, (11/2 km.) gets you the center of town in four minutes. 10 minutes walk to the Guggenheim. The views and the country feeling of the area is a welcome contrast the hazel and buzzle of downtown Bilbao.
This pension (hotel) is 2-3 blocks from the Bilbao "Intermodal" station, which is an underground station for busses, trains and metro combined. So this location was extremely convenient. We walked to the Guggenheim Museum and to old town, because we like walking, but there is an above ground trolley that you could use.
The reception person was very friendly, spoke excellent English and was able to answer all our questions. The room, on the 4th floor was quiet, we did not hear any street noises or other guests.
It was only 2 minutes walk from the metro station, and in the middle of the lively neighbourhood of Old Town of Bilbao. Very convenient for our brief city holiday. The room was very clean and comfortable, and we slept very well as the window blocked the street noise & the curtain blocked the morning light. Staffs were very organised and helpful - they contacted me through WhatsApp, helped me locating where the hotel was. Very happy experience overall!
It was superb. Nice and cool in the hotel as we were there during a heatwave. The hotel is in a perfect position with a short walk to the old town and across the pedestrian bridge to some lovely restaurants and bars. We ate in the hotel which was good and the breakfast was superb. Our room was good with air con, great shower mini fridge and comfy bed. Didn’t have a view as such but didn’t matter. We loved Bilbao and the staff were really pleasant.
Location is perfect, right beside old town but still short stroll to shops in city centre, short walk to Ribera Market where there's cheap tapas upstairs and also beside a nice Square in Old Town to go for drinks and more pinxtos!! Bilbao is food heaven, guggenheim and all the sights are within walking distance, modern hotel, comfy beds, with the nicest shampoo/shower gel I've ever used in a hotel, staff are helpful
great location. beautiful area. we had a room with a view if the park. the staff was amazing, friendly and helpful. we we’re celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary with a month in Spain and when I made all the plans I informed all hotels. the manager of the Melia Bilbao was the only one to acknowledge it and sent up a bottle of Perseco. Adama at the front desk was a gem as well!
Great location, close to many bars and pubs and restaurants, and easily accessible from the airport and via public transport. It was easy to walk around several areas of Bilbao straight from the hotel, or hop on the metro/bus to go a littler further. Our room was spacious, clean, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the shower large (with a bidet) and lots of toiletries.
José's apartment was a wonderful place to stay. Right in the beautiful old town, but in a quiet location right near the market. The apartment was clean and well-appointed, with comfortable beds and furniture. Would recommend for anyone staying in Bilbao, especially if you want to explore the old town.
Location is on the edge of the Old Town that offers the historic charm of Bilbao as well as many dining options. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. FYI, the hotel supplies L’Occitane bath gel, shampoo, and conditioner. Also, compliments to the staff especially Elvira and Amaya.
This hotel is in a great location for exploring the old town in Bilbao and all of the major tourist attractions including the Guggenheim. We have stayed there before and we're very happy to return. It's a good value tourist hotel with nice breakfast and very friendly staff.
Lovely boutique hotel in a great location in Bilbao, next to Guggenheim Museum and within walking distance of both the old town and the newer shopping district. Room was very spacious and bed was very comfortable. Good walk-in shower, with good bathroom amenities.
Nice hotel greatly decorated. Just outside of Bilbao’s old town but easily walkable. Staff is nice and helpful. On-site restaurant with international choice. They have water fountain so you can refill your bottle anytime.
Located between the “Old town” Casco Viejo and the newer part of town.
Best place to stay, cosy room, very attentive personnel, and a nice bed.
Will definitely return here when I’m back in Bilbao. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Location, walking distance from mayor attractions in Bilbao. The staff was friendly and help with tips about were to eat, most see and how to get there. Always welcome everyone that enter the hotel.
It’s a very clean, modern and chic hotel in the center of Bilbao‘s old town. The staff is very friendly and we received some good tips. We would definitely recommend it and come back.
Very comfortable hotel with excellent friendly staff. Room clean, quiet. Excellent location to explore the main sights in Bilbao.
Very good breakfast ont he 6th floor
Location is spot on for Bilbao visit. Hotel is near the main city center and near many bars and taverns. Neighborhood is OK - nothing fancy - but OK for a short stay
